A very warm welcome to our new Chief Officer Jackie Buxton

I have been a pharmacist for more than 30 years including many years with Boots UK.  I was Secretary then Chair of South Humber LPC from 1997 until its merger with East Riding & Hull LPC in 2013 to form Community Pharmacy Humber.   I am very excited about my new position and have been very fortunate in having a handover period with Graham to get up to speed.

The current environment for community pharmacy is very challenging and demanding but also full of opportunities.  I am passionate about improving patient care through using community pharmacy teams to their full potential whether in the areas of self-care, urgent care or planned care.  John and I have a strategy session planned for our May LPC meeting (the first of the new committee) to ensure we capture (and then act upon) the thoughts and ideas of all of our members.

As the Chief Officer role is 24 hours each week, I am also continuing to work part time for NHSE as Community Pharmacy Integration Lead for Midlands & East.  This role is quite specific and involves supporting projects funded by the Integration Fund.  Both roles seek to improve patient care through pharmacy so are complementary.  I have also built up an useful list of contacts!

Outside work I enjoy swimming, running and skiing.  I am married and have two daughters, one studying psychology (post grad) and one physiotherapy (undergrad).  I look forward to meeting and getting to know many of you over the next few months.
